Gulali is one of Indonesia's traditional foods which is quite popular in its time. When there weren't many packaged candies or lollipops like today, children preferred to buy candy that were hawked by peddlers.
Gulali itself consists of various types. The most popular and perhaps the most traditional type is cotton candy made from palm sugar. This cotton candy has a blackish brown color and is usually stabbed with pieces of sticks. Sugar cotton is usually mixed with peanuts.

The recipe that we will discuss is to make cotton candy from brown sugar or brown sugar. That said, this cotton candy is the forerunner of the various sweets that are currently available.
